Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the former governor of Gombe State, Hassan Ibrahim Dankwambo, has charged Nigerians to be ruthless when dealing with politicians.

Dankwambo who took to his official Twitter account asked Nigerians to charge politicians nothing less than $50,000 if they must sell their vote.

Vote-buying during elections in Nigeria is regarded as a norm. More often than not, politicians pay N500-N3,000 to buy votes on election day.

The former Gombe State governor tweeted:

The worth of your vote should be around FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.

If you will ever sell your vote, that should be your starting price.

Dankwambo’s outburst about vote-buying is fuelled by recent news of delegates being paid up to $5,000 at the just concluded party primaries, largely between the APC and the PDP.
